RUN FOR WATER 2013

Join other runners as they race to raise funds for Amman Imman's programs in Niger. All funds directly support the construction of life-giving water sources and other development projects, such as sustainable farming, livelihood programs, health projects and school programs. Each Amman Imman borehole well meets the needs of more than 25,000 people and their animals living in Niger’s Azawak region, where dehydration and waterborne illness take thousands of lives every year.  

To join the campaign:

Amman Imman’s Run for Water is not tied to a specific running event. Anyone can race for water. Here’s how: · Register for an organized race, organize a race or relay of your own, or simply run a specified distance and garner sponsors to support your run. All sponsors can support you through Amman Imman's fundraising platform on FirstGiving, which will prompt you to set up your own fundraising page.

Instructions for Individual Runners:

1. Register for a race of your choice, or set the goal of running a specified distance (of any length, at any time or location).
2. Visit Amman Imman’s FirstGiving Run for Water Campaign page and click the “Join Now” button.
3. Follow the FirstGiving instructions, which will prompt you to set up a fundraising page where you can tell your personal story about why you are running for water.
4. Begin fundraising, directing donors to support Amman Imman through your FirstGiving page.
5. Contact laurel@ammanimman.org if you need any fundraising ideas, training tips or if you just need help selecting a race or mapping a running course.

Instructions for Running teams:

1. Gather a team of interested runners.
2. Register for a race of your choice, or set up a relay around a track or over a mapped course.
3. Have each runner visit Amman Imman’s FirstGiving Run for Water Campaign page and click the “Join Now” button.
4. Through FirstGiving, each runner will be prompted to set up a fundraising page and will also have the option of joining a team. The first runner to sign up should select a team name and have each individual join that team.
5. On your FirstGiving page, tell your story about why you are running for water.
6. Begin fundraising, directing donors to support Amman Imman through your FirstGiving page.
7. Contact laurel@ammanimman.org if you need any fundraising ideas, training tips or if you just need help selecting a race or mapping a running course.
